CBG Consultants were involved in a 2000m2 scheme to demolish and construct a new museum building to the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock.

The new museum incorporated major parts of an existing historic wall which contrasted with a modern glass fronted elevation. The design focused on a fabric first approach to provide high thermal performance using the historic elements alongside new concrete construction.

The fabric first approach was modelled by CBG to incorporate;

  • High mass concrete (and the original wall)
  • High performance glazing
  • Solar defensive hedge planting adjacent to glazing
  • Brie Soleil where required

Low energy lighting and controls were used throughout, with ventilation systems in the display and archive areas.

The new space accommodates and displays artifacts belonging to the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Trust.
