We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer to join our Oxford office.
CBG specialise in maximising the efficiency of buildings, through optimising fabric with efficient mechanical and electrical design solutions. These range from the refurbishment of some of the UK’s most famous historic sights, to state of the art brand new facilities for universities and pioneering scientific research institutes. Variety for us is key, one day you could be surveying a timeless Cotswold manor house, the next you may be working on a three dimensional model in BIM for a new performing arts school.
Duties will include undertaking survey work and the production of feasibility reports, full design and specification for a wide range of mechanical systems in buildings in a number of different sectors including healthcare, education, private and public housing, commercial and retail.
Initially the role will be under the guidance of a Principal Engineer, however as you develop, you will increasingly be responsible for visiting a wide variety of sites to undertake feasibility surveys, attend site progress meetings and review installations. Working closely with other team members, you will see projects through from inception to completion and handover.
Skills and Qualities
The role will involve becoming confident in the design of mechanical services in buildings, becoming efficient at AutoCAD and other design software and assisting with the preparation of feasibility studies, project design and contract administration. To be successful, you should be able to demonstrate that you have:
- A degree in a relevant subject
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience of building services design
- Excellent communication skills
- Be a competent MS Word and Excel user
- An accurate, methodical approach to your work
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills
Some experience of building services design and use of Revit software is desirable; it would be advantageous to have your own transport and driving licence, though not a necessity.
The role involves the use of IES, Revit, AutoCad, SAP, and other design and modelling software. Working knowledge of MS Office is also preferred. Previous experience of these or similar packages is useful however full training will be provided.
