Mechanical and Electrical Services Consultancy of the high profile Queen’s College Grade I Listed library refurbishment, in the heart of Oxford.
The brief called for minimisation of the impact of any plant on the historical building. The new services include sophisticated environment controls, modern services to improve conditions for the books and furniture.
CBG undertook detailed thermal dynamic modelling simulations in IES. This was correlated with logged environmental data, allowing each proposed strategy to be evaluated.
The Queen’s College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. It was founded in 1341 and the Library is now one of the largest of any Oxford college, with a lending collection of 50,000 volumes, and nearly 150,000 volumes in the historical collection.
