The Kingston University’s Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture is recognised as one of the best art and design schools in the teaching and research world.

The faculty’s position amongst the top art and design schools is confirmed by subject rankings, research performance, industry and student awards, the leading brands and institutions that choose to work with them. In order to maintain this world reputation the facilities are being subject to significant refurbishment and upgrade to modern standards.

The New Extension building has gone largely untouched since the 1970’s and much of the internal building fabric and service had reached the end of its design life.

The project involves a comprehensive refurbishment and remodelling of all areas including enhancing shared spaces, improving circulation, rationalising existing spaces to ensure optimises space planning. All services are being replaced and upgraded to the latest energy efficiency standards.

The building fabric has been subject to significant upgrades to the thermal envelope including the introduction of improved solar performance on the south façades and inclusion of brise soliel.
